Activities at the Lodge & Surrounding Area

 Stick around the lodge, there is plenty to do

​Lay in the Hammock- Grab a good book, lay in the hammock and relax. It's also the perfect place to have an afternoon nap!

Swimming- Swimming in the river at the lodge depends on water levels, read on to find out about local beaches. The river is the most perfect place for exploring for the young and the young at heart! When the water is low, take a stroll... not only will it refresh you but you will find pools of fish, see eagles and Canadians geese as well. We provide low sitting chairs which are great for the water. 

Fishing Bring your pole and cast your line just steps from the lodge’s porch. Both the Magaguadavic and the North East branch of the Magaguadavic River run through the 100-acre parcel of land. It is the ultimate spot for angling and fly fishing. Hook into species such as brook trout, small mouth bass, pickerel, and even salmon. Ideal spot for both the novice and experienced fisherman(and lady!)

ATVing – Guests are welcome to bring wheelers with them. ATV trails lead all over the province and can be easily accessed from the lodge. Summer is beautiful in NB and there is plenty to see while on the trails.

Nature - Take the opportunity to explore the surrounding woods/waters. With the lodge sitting on a private 100-acre property, there is much to explore without even leaving the grounds. The chances of seeing a beaver swimming around or deer grazing in the fields are high while strolling through the woods.

The village of Harvey and surrounding areas are have a great selection of places to stop by! Visit the local businesses that have been in operation for over 100 years, browse the shops such as The Gun Dealer- Canada’s largest display of guns, or The Kubbyhole’s wonderful choice of items made by local artisans.

Harvey Station – You will find an abundance of hospitality, craft and gift shops, restaurants, a post office and a bank. 

The Kubbyhole – This co-op run store is full of local artisan’s antiques, woodworking, primitives, photography, jewelry, preserves, knitting, and more. It can found beside Moffitt’s Irving/Convenience Store/Pizza Shack as you’re heading into the village.

Smith’s Store – located in the heart of the village of Harvey, this store has been in business since 1869. 

Briggs & Little Woolen Mill As Canada’s oldest woolen mill, it has been in production in the same place since 1857. 

Atlantic Pewter & Glass-  Offers a variety of finely crafted pewter jewelry, decorative pieces and gifts. Their designs are backed by demand, with frequently requested ones being added monthly. 

Blacks Grocery & Café- Everything from unique gift ware to snacks, Black’s is a one stop shop. The cafe is known for their homemade desserts, served after the famous Black’s burger.

Westphalia Bakery/Deli/Café- Offering homemade baking from scratch to a full course meal.

Catharine Pendrel Harvey Lakeside Trail- Enjoy hiking or cycling this 1 km loop in the heart of the village. With a lookout giving you a view of Harvey Lake and the benches and picnic shelters along the different routes, you can spend as little or long as you would like.This trail was named after Harvey’s own Olympic medalist, Catharine Pendrel, (bronze medal in mountain biking at the 2016 Olympics).

Swimming & Boating- Pack a picnic lunch and head to several of the nearby waters for a change of scenery. Boating and swimming are both accessible at beaches located nearby.

Local Events in Harvey

Harvey Community Days-This event has taken place in Harvey since 1945. Each year, the community celebrates its pride for the village throughout various events. It is 4 days jam packed with events such as a parade, craft sale, a horse pull, fireworks, live entertainment, a dance and more. Harvey Community Days is an annual fund raising event with proceeds that stay within the community. It is held annually, from Thursday to Sunday,  which the Saturday is the second Saturday of the month of August.

Kings Landing – This 300-acre museum houses over 70,000 artifacts, offers over 40 exhibits, horseback riding, theatre, workshops as well as a fully 1st person interpreted village where you can step back in time with a community of costumed characters in 70 historic buildings. From the American Revolution to the turn of the 20th century, Kings Landing is a collection of stories and events that shaped New Brunswick through settlement, the birth of the great nation of Canada, and to the age of progress. 20-minute drive from the lodge. 

McAdam- A 15-minute drive from the lodge brings you to the village of McAdam, bordering the state of Maine. Grab a bite to eat, tour the historical train station or visit The Gun Dealer, with Canada’s largest display of guns.   

The Gun Dealer- This family business has been in operation for over 40 years. It has Canada’s largest display of rifles, shotguns, and hand guns. They have over 750 on display and more than 4000 in stock.  

McAdam Train Station – Built in 1900, the McAdam Railway Station is a National and Provincial Historic site and a designated Heritage Railway Station. It is an active museum offering tours, catered meals, and their famous Sunday Railroad Pie.

Saint Andrews – St. Andrews is one of New Brunswick’s oldest and most distinctive settlements. it is Canada’s premier historic seaside town and is less than an hour drive from the lodge.

FUNDY DISCOVERY AQUARIUM- The Fundy Discovery Aquarium features exhibits about local marine environments. Highlights include two large touchpools, harbour seals, beautiful aquariums with marine fish, and an impressive tidal tank.

Whale Watching- Want to get up close and personal with whales, harbor seals, and grey seals? There is no better place to knock this off your bucket list. 

Ministers Island- Ministers Island is an enchanting place to experience. Lying just off the shore near St. Andrews, this 500-acre island is only a part-time island. You reach it by driving over the seafloor. The Van Horne Estate on Ministers Island offers visitors one of the foremost cultural, heritage and environmental tourism destinations around. 

Hopewell Rocks- The place to pause…a place to appreciate a remarkable story interwoven through time, tide, and the intricacies of nature. These are the highest tides in the world. And they happen twice a day, every day. 

sT. mARTINS cAVES-walk the ocean floor out to sea caves, caverns and arches.

bEACHES- yOU WILL FIND AN AMBUNDANCE OF BEACHES IN nb. a FEW OF THE MOST POPULAR BEING  Mactaquac Beach (30 MINS FROM THE LODGE) AND pARLEE BEACH. 

Magnetic Hill- Drive to the bottom of this world-famous hill, take your foot off the brake and be prepared to be amazed. Your car will roll uphill in total defiance of natural law, even as your brain is telling you it's simply not possible! This attraction is a completely natural phenomenon - unique to this area, Is it magnetic, an illusion, or gravitational mystery? You decide! 

Reserving Falls- A unique phenomenon created by the collision of the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River. At low tide the river empties into the bay causing a series of rapids and whirlpools. As tides rise they slow the river current for a brief period called slack tide. The Bay's tides continue to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river, and rapids form again, peaking at high tide.

Grand Manan Island- Set sail for adventures when you discover Grand Manan Island in the world-famous Bay of Fundy. Here you can get up close and personal with puffins, migrating whales, marine wildlife and migrating seabirds on the finest tours in the bay. Our working fishing villages, herring weirs and lighthouses offer a glimpse into our maritime roots. 

Deer Island- A short jaunt on the ferry will take you to Deer Island, which is half-way between the Equator and North Pole. This tiny island has been inhabited since 1770. The largest Tidal Whirlpool in the Western Hemisphere (possibly the world) can be viewed there during each flood tide. Beach combing is at the top of everyone's list, with bird watching and cycling being two favourite past times. Check out the rock formations include "The Devil's Hand" and "Circle of Love.”

Campobello Island- Campobello Island is a beautiful island off the Coast of Maine yet located in New Brunswick on the Bay of Fundy. Visit the summer home of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor. 

Stop at the local shops & restaurants-
you will quickly learn that the village of Harvey may be small but the hearts of its people are huge!
