Our Story
We, Mike & Tammy Watson, along with our 3 sons, are excited to share this journey with you! We want you to experience the peace and quiet our lodge can bring. We want our guests to step aside from their busy lives and get back to simplicity and reconnecting with others.
We started with clearing the grounds and have built this incredible lodge on the riverbank ourselves. There's a lot of our own blood, sweat and tears in the walls of this cabin! We want others to experience the simple beauty of nature at it's finest and join along on this wonderful adventure with us!
Welcome to Magaguadavic Lodge
The Watson family
The watson family lives in Harvey Station, New Brunswick. Mike was born and raised not far from where they reside. Tammy, as a daughter of an Air Force family, moved all over before settling down and marrying Mike in 2000.
Mike, an true avid outdoorsman, has been the manager of an Atlantic Salmon hatchery for almost 20 years. The Watson family resides on the hatchery grounds.
In 2014, an incredible opportunity to buy an amazing piece of property landed in Mike & Tammy's lap. In no time at all, they were new owners of 100 acres of land, just minutes from their home. This land borders the Magaguadavic River and has North East branch of the river flowing down the middle. It's truly one a kind.
The idea of someday retiring and building a small log home on the land has been set on the side burner as the Watson's decided to build the lodge.
Mike & Tammy picked a heavily wooded area alongside the river and started clearing the land in October, 2016. Throughout the winter months, they worked each day to create a charming, rustic, quaint timber log cabin. In May 2017, they opened the doors to their first guests.
In the Watson's spare time, they don't stray from outdoors activities. Mike & the boys enjoy hunting while the entire family likes to fish. Tammy enjoys hunting as well... for antiques! She loves finding those perfect pieces full of history.
They spend the summers tending to gardens and raising chickens and cattle, to provide meat for the family. Knowing what they are eating and how it was raised is important to them. They also have a flock of free range laying hens . The fall months are busy preserving fruits and vegetables-from freezing to canning; a few favourites are salsa, lady ashburn and mustard beans. Winter brings snowshoeing and the anticipation of the spring arriving so they can join in at the family sugar shack to make maple syrup. Tammy enjoys snapping all of these memories on film; taking photos in general, especially flowers and birds.
